In a resounding victory for the sanctity of unborn life, Costa Rica’s newly elected President Laura Fernández has boldly proclaimed abortion “nothing more than murder,” vowing to defend the innocent from conception onward. Fernández, who secured 48.3% of the vote in the February 2, 2026, election, outpaced rivals in a landslide, earning a mandate to extend outgoing President Rodrigo Chaves’ conservative agenda on family values, economic freedom, and border security.

n a rebuke to President Emmanuel Macron’s push for one of the world’s most permissive euthanasia laws, the French Senate last week dismantled the “loi Falorni” bill, stripping out all provisions for assisted suicide and voluntary killing. Instead, senators transformed it into a mandate for enforceable palliative care, explicitly rejecting lethal substances and affirming the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.

Speaking to CBN News during the March For Life, she said many young people are enthusiastic about the pro-life steps being taken by President Donald Trump’s administration.

The French Senate recently rejected the government-backed Assisted dying Bill, by 181 votes to 122.
The National Assembly had passed the bill in May 2025, but the the Senate later changed its wording, which now states that everyone has the right to the “best possible relief from pain”, but “without any voluntary intervention intended to cause death”.
The Senate also voted for an alternative Bill on palliative care, in favour with 307 to 17.

“When I predicted this outcome over years of debates in Parliament, pro-euthanasia advocates would dismiss it as ‘fear mongering,’” he noted. “It turns out that fear of desacralizing human life is entirely rational.”

On Thursday, People Before Profit-Solidarity TD Ruth Coppinger brought forward another abortion-related bill in the Dáil, this time aimed at removing the mandatory three-day waiting period. It follows the defeat she and party colleague Paul Murphy suffered before Christmas, when their bill to permit abortion on request up to birth was opposed by a majority of TDs from advancing to the next stage.

Multiple surveys show an increase in the share of young adults identifying as “pro-life,” while support for unrestricted abortion access has declined in recent years. According to data from Gallup and others, the percentage of young adults calling themselves pro-life climbed to about 37% in 2025, an increase of about 8 to 11 percentage points compared to polls from 2022 and 2023.

House Speaker Mike Johnson rallied pro-life advocates at the annual March for Life last week, declaring that the right to life is an unalienable gift from God and highlighting recent legislative victories as a turning point in protecting the unborn.
