As the nation awaits New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s decision to approve or veto legislation to legalize assisted suicide in the state, it’s becoming more evident that the United States is moving at a slow but increasing pace toward the promotion of death — which always begins with those most vulnerable. If a wave of pro-assisted suicide laws sweeps the nation, as it appears it could, countless vulnerable people will die or face pressure to die regardless of their desire for it or the lack of a terminal diagnosis.

A congressional panel led by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has launched an investigation into Planned Parenthood, probing whether the nation’s largest abortion business has misused federal taxpayer funds. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Subcommittee, chaired by Greene under the House Oversight Committee, initiated the probe on Friday, targeting Planned Parenthood’s handling of billions in federal dollars. Greene sent a letter to Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson, questioning whether the nonprofit is commingling federal funds for unpermitted purposes, despite the Hyde Amendment’s prohibition on using federal money for abortions.

Planned Parenthood played a key role in skyrocketing abortions in recent years by popularizing a dangerous and deadly abortion drug regimen used to execute a majority of U.S. abortions, a new study suggests. Abortion in the U.S. rose steadily from 1973, when the Supreme Court handed down its Roe v. Wade decision, until 1990. For the next 28 years, however, the total number of abortions declined. It wasn’t until 2018 that “this long-term decline veered sharply upward in a new direction,” about a 20 percent increase that lasted through 2023.

Pro-life sentiment has increased slightly from 2024 to 2025, a recent Gallup poll found. The poll found a slight increase in those who identify as pro-life (41% to 43%) while those who identify as pro-choice fell from 54% to 51%. The survey also saw slight increases in those who say abortion is morally wrong and those who say abortion should be legal in only a few or no circumstances. Both categories were up by 3 percentage points from last year.
