Pro-Abortion Protesters Demonstrate outside Kavanaugh Home after Foiled Assassination Plot
A group of pro-abortion activists descended on Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home on Wednesday night to protest the expected overturning of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark decision that legalized abortion nationally, after an assassination attempt on his life was foiled earlier in the day.
The demonstrators marched in front of Kavanaugh’s house, carrying signs and shouting slogans such as “We say ‘our choice'” and “Keep your ovaries off our rosaries.” Police stood guard on the lawn of the home as they walked by. One sign read, “Just say no to theocracy.”
The Wednesday-night protest happened despite the fact that a man was charged with attempting or threatening to murder or kidnap Kavanaugh that morning after traveling to his residence armed with a Glock handgun. Nicholas John Roske allegedly was intent on killing the justice over his presumed votes in soon-to-be decided cases relating to abortion and the Second Amendment.
In May, a Supreme Court majority draft opinion on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked, projecting a reversal of Roe that would send the abortion issue to the states to regulate. Part of Roske’s almost-rampage appears to have been motivated by Kavanaugh’s predicted vote ruling in favor of the petitioner that would overturn Roe.
Roske told police on Wednesday that he called 911 to turn himself in because he was having suicidal thoughts, confirming to the operator that he intended to kill a “specific” Supreme Court justice, according to the affidavit. After he was arrested, law enforcement found weapons including a Glock 17 pistol with two magazines, a tactical knife, pepper spray, a hammer, and a screwdriver in his possession.
After Roske was thwarted Wednesday, radical pro-abortion group Ruth Sent Us, which made headlines in May for publishing the addresses of the six originalist Supreme Court justices on the Internet and protesting in front of their homes, offered snide remarks of seemingly fake sympathy for Kavanaugh and his family.
“We offer our thoughts & prayers to Brett & Ashley Kavanaugh after a California man arrived by taxi near their home, armed with a gun & knife, then called the police on himself to confess his murderous rage against the abusive alcoholic ‘Justice,'” the group tweeted. “We didn’t send him. #RuthSentUs.”
“Abuser Kavanaugh’s abusive groupies are delighted the man had a gun, a knife and pepper spray. Why’s the gun listed first? Everyone knows the gun is the problem — it’s the most dangerous weapon the lost attacker had. Oh, Kavanaugh is a white supremacist & Zina Bash is too,” Ruth Sent Us added.
