Why abortion and transgenderism are two sides of the same coin.

New York Times opinion writer J. Boylan says it all with an article titled “Abortion Rights and Trans Rights Are Two Sides of the Same Coin.” Anyone having any doubt will find Boylan consistent with liberal dogmas. Anyone who does not know where the pro abortion position leads to has only to follow the article’s twisted logic.

The central thesis of this “transgendered” author is that the State does not have the right to limit what one can or cannot do with one’s body. Thus, abortion is linked to the “trans” movement and all sexual deviations and lifestyles. The State must provide the “healthcare” of abortion and “gender transition.” It is essentially the same thing.

When “bodily autonomy” is considered absolute, any restriction is tyranny.

Marriage/Family

Fewer Americans think marriage is needed to create strong families, new poll suggests.

The new survey indicates that the number of people who believe marriage is needed to create strong families (52%) has declined by 10 percentage points since 2015, when over six in 10 Americans said the same. Read more

Telling Women They Don’t Need Men Is Hurting Their Children.

The late Michael Novak, recipient of the Templeton Prize and renowned philosopher, once remarked, “Marriage, the family unit, was the ‘original Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.’” Unfortunately, these days, the fundamental foundation for societal well-being – strong marriages and intact families – is crumbling at an alarming rate, and not just among the poor. This disintegration has alarming consequences for all aspects of our society. Read more

The DIY Family.

Middle and upper-middle class American families have gotten used to outsourcing a lot of their life: child care, cooking, manicures, house cleaning, mowing the grass, even driving. Pandemic related health fears and work disruptions drove some people to outsource even more. Many have tried grocery delivery for the first time, for example. Like a modern lower end version of a Gilded Age baron, many Americans are now catered to by an army of part-time servants. But the sustainability of paying people to do things for us is an open question. Read more

Parenting/Parental Rights

Whose Children Are These?

California has a long history of “firsts.” The Golden State was home to the first computer, the first movie theater, and the first McDonalds. Sadly, the state is now leading the nation in stripping parents of their childrearing authority. Read more

New Sex Ed ‘Common Core’ Would Force Explicit Images, Gender Mayhem, And Abortion On Kids.

Last year, three leftist nonprofits created the National Sex Education Standards, a blueprint for the “sex education” of K-12 children. In practice, the standards serve as an indoctrination camp in extremist sexual ethics designed to destroy children’s innocence and undermine their attachment to the traditional, Judeo-Christian understanding of sex and marriage. Read more

Boys are falling farther and farther behind their sisters: should we care?

What is driving the rise in the numbers of unmotivated boys and underachieving young men? And what can we do about it? In my book Boys Adrift, I identify multiple factors that have combined to disengage boys and young men from hard work and academic achievement. The bad news is that these factors are pervasive. The good news is that parents who understand these challenges can arm their sons with the tools those boys need in order to fulfill their potential. Read more

The Women’s Health Protection Act Does Anything But Protect Women.

The Women’s Health Protection Act and its misleading name are indicative of a larger problem in Washington with deceptive bill labels that have nothing to do with their legislative contents. This bill codifies universal, unlimited access to abortion, prohibiting states from implementing restrictions on when or how an abortion can be performed, including waiting periods, ultrasounds, or limits based on pregnancy stage. It also permanently eliminates pro-life protections including the Hyde Amendment, which protects American taxpayers from paying for abortions with their tax dollars. Read more

Crucial question in all those newsworthy abortion debates: When does life begin?

When does life begin?

Those four words are regularly posed in the current abortion debate, so let’s scan the lines in pregnancy that have been drawn by experts — religious and secular — in the past. Read more

A Christian nurse claims she was discriminated against, bullied, pressured and eventually coerced into resigning from her job because she wouldn’t comply with a policy to either remove or cover up her cross necklace while on duty. Read more

The Jihadist Genocide of Christians in Nigeria Intensifies.

What several international observers have for years characterized as a “pure genocide” of Christians in Nigeria has reached new levels.

Since the Islamic insurgency earnestly began in July 2009—first at the hands of Boko Haram, a professional Islamic terrorist organization, and later by the Fulani, Muslim herdsmen also radicalized and motivated by jihadist ideology—over 60,000 Christians have either been butchered or abducted during raids, never to return and believed to be dead by their loved ones. About 20,000 churches and Christian schools have also been torched and destroyed during the same time frame. Read more

Berlin 1936. Beijing 2022. Must China’s Uighurs play the role Jews did in Hitler Olympics?

It should be evident to all paying attention that the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will proceed as planned. Forget the meager protests against China’s cruel and immoral treatment of its own. The bad guys appear to be on the verge of another power-play victory.

Never mind the plight of China’s Uighur Muslims, underground Christian churches, Tibetan Buddhists and all the other groups the Beijing government labels a political threat. They’re of no lasting concern to the international elite who are quick to issue public condemnations, but oh so slow when it comes to follow up. Read more

Sexuality

The erasure of ‘women’ is escalating.

The campaign to erase references to women has reached new levels of absurdity. In just the last few weeks, it’s made forays into social media, medical journals, and even federal legislation.

For example, if you’ve spent much time on social media lately, you’ve likely seen the ACLU’s edits of a quote from Ruth Bader Ginsburg to remove offending references to “women.” Read more

Canadian tribunal rules that using ‘wrong’ pronouns violates human rights, awards $30K to trans-identified woman.

At issue was the restaurant using female pronouns for Nelson, with the business firing her and claiming that she had become too “militant” in the demand to be identified as nonbinary. Tribunal Member Devyn Cousineau authored the opinion, concluding that the refusal to use Nelson’s preferred pronouns “amounted to discrimination.”

Tanner Hnidey, a Christian writer from Alberta, penned a column on his website denouncing the ruling as a rejection of objective truth and a disturbing restriction on free speech. Read more

Women jailed with biological male face extra jail time unless they refer to him as a woman.

Many commentators have noted the insanity of gender ideology; fewer, however, have noted the cruelty of transgender policy in practice. One example of this is the fact that male criminals — many of them violent and dangerous — are increasingly identifying as female in order to get sent to women’s prisons. Vulnerable female inmates are finding themselves locked behind bars with rapists and lady killers. Read more
