Marriage/Family

Japan could ban sperm donation for lesbians and single women.

Based on guidelines from the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (JSOG), the law would protect the right of children to know their biological parents and cap the number of recipients from a single donor.

Kozo Akino, in Japan’s Upper House, contends that children’s rights are most easily protected by “legally married parents with joint custody.” He says that: “Assisted reproductive technology should not be pursued at the expense of the well-being of children”. Read more

SCOTUS To Decide If American Indian Babies Can Be Ripped From Adoptive Parents On The Basis Of Skin Color.

American Indians are the only group of U.S. citizens whose child custody claims are decided solely on the basis of race instead of the best interests of the child.

Under federal law, it doesn’t matter in custody disputes if a child’s home is a crime-infested haven for violent gangs and drug dealers. It doesn’t matter if a child’s home is an avenue of emotional, physical, and even sexual abuse. What does matter is the color of the child’s skin. Read more

Having 5 Kids Is Real Diversity.

I presume for many people, our large family is perceived as an indictment. They chose to have one kid or get a dog so they would have more freedom to pursue their own professional aspirations and hobbies; it’s possible my kids spotlight their selfish decisions. Or, alternatively, my children are a threat: either because they are “polluters” contributing to a global climate crisis, or because they are likely being raised in a conservative, religious home that rejects the dominant narratives regarding sexuality and “systemic racism.” It’s my kids who are learning in home school to honor those vilified “dead white men” of our nation’s past.

I can sense it all the time: when I’m out and about with three or more of my children or when someone walks into my office and sees the photo of my family of seven. People think I’m different, that I’m weird, that I’m not like they are. And it’s true, I suppose. I’m diverse. The diversity, equity, and inclusion crowd, in their own narrowmindedness and intolerance, simply aren’t progressive enough to realize it yet. Read more

Parenting/Parental Rights

Emails Show Colorado District Lying About ‘Furries’ In Schools To Smear Parents.

The parental rights group Jeffco Kids First shared with The Federalist a trove of the district’s internal emails obtained through Colorado Open Records Act requests. Shortly after district leaders categorically wrote off the presence of “furries” among the student body in an attempt to brand the state’s Republican gubernatorial candidate as a liar, administrators received a cascade of complaints from distressed parents whose concerns were dismissed. Read more

Arizona Parents Show How to Beat the Teachers’ Unions.

In a massive win for families, the last obstacle to universal school choice in Arizona has fallen. Parent protesters revealed the unions and their allies to be paper tigers, thereby paving the way for further school-choice expansions in other states. Read more

Divorce Makes Kids More Vulnerable to Getting Hurt Online.

There is only one problem with the new conventional wisdom on the liberatory power of divorce and family diversity for the kids. It’s completely wrong. The social science on family and children tells us that children are markedly more likely to suffer emotional, social, and financial distress if raised apart from their own married parents. In fact, a new study released this week reveals one more arena where family breakdown is taking a toll on children: the virtual world. Read more

Sanctity of Life

A Canadian retailer exploits a young artist’s euthanasia to market its fashions.

The trend of marketers speaking out on important social issues has been taken to a new level with the “All is Beauty” campaign. It is bound to be controversial – especially when the 30-second abridged version hits television screens.

The video is very unsettling. La Maison Simons is treating euthanasia as performance art – a brilliant collage of photography, dance, puppetry, music, and sand art on a beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in the province of British Columbia.

But is it ethical for a company to use her death as the centrepiece for a major marketing campaign to sell its products? The glittering video can’t quite hide the ghoulish side of this stunt. Read more

Adopted and loved in a post-Roe America.

November is National Adoption Month. Adoption unleashes purpose. It’s an act of love, mercy, justice, and sacrifice. It’s not an easy decision, and it’s not an easy road for anyone involved.

Since the Dobbs decision, the anti-adoption rhetoric has exponentially increased. Some claim abortion is a preemptive act that prevents someone from experiencing adversity. What a horrible social policy. You don’t eliminate the potential sufferer; you elevate the person who is suffering.

The true strength of our humanity is how we help those in their weakest moments. Vulnerable children need that strength. In 2020, there were an estimated 930,160 children aborted in our nation. The numbers have been increasing since 2017. That same year, there were only 79,161 total adoptions. This is a significant drop from 2019 where there were 94,743 adoptions. Read more

Michigan Proposal 3 is Bad News for Women and Babies, Here’s Why.

Lawmakers and advocates have pushed to make surrogacy, or similar reproductive options, an absolute right under state constitutions, federal law, and from insurance providers.

Michigan’s “Right to Reproductive Freedom” constitutional amendment is a prime example. Dubbed Proposition 3, this amendment is scheduled for vote via ballot measure on Nov. 8, 2022. If passed, it would ensure that “every individual has a fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which entails the right to make and effectuate decisions about all matters relating to … infertility care.” Read more

New UN Treaty Would Make Homophobia a Crime Against Humanity.

The General Assembly is discussing a treaty on crimes against humanity that could be used to fine and jail religious conservatives and anyone who objects to the homosexual and trans agenda.

The new draft treaty, prepared by the International Law Commission, discards a longstanding definition of gender in international law as “the two sexes, male and female, within the context of society.” The definition, always disliked by progressives, has stood in the way of progress for homosexual and transgender activists for over twenty years. Dropping that definition of gender in the new treaty on crimes against humanity could open the door to the prosecution of anyone who objects to homosexual and transgender ideas, behavior, or practices. Read more

Speaking out for academic freedom in Mexico.

Students should not fear for their careers when they voice their views, especially in an academic setting. University graduate Christian Cortez Pérez had his license to practice psychology threatened, just for what he said in his graduation speech. As the top of his class at his university’s School of Medicine and Psychology, Christian earned the right to deliver the address at his June 2022 graduation ceremony. In his speech, he voiced his deeply held moral convictions regarding the state of the world today on many issues, including the importance of the family and the sanctity of life. Read more

Soros-Backed Group Demands IRS Crack Down on Politically-Engaged Churches.

“Pastors should be free to preach without fear of government intrusion,” Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Ryan Tucker told The Washington Stand. “The government simply has no business interfering with the internal affairs of churches, nor should it be able to threaten a church with financial penalties based on a requirement that the church self-censor and surrender its constitutionally protected freedom.”

Future President Lyndon B. Johnson proposed the measure to advance his own career and stifle his political opponents. Two nonprofit organizations — Facts Forum and the Committee for Constitutional Government — took out ads opposing Johnson. The Texan proposed an amendment banning any group with their tax-exempt status from targeting a political candidate with an amendment that the Senate adopted by voice vote without floor discussion in July 1954. The provision “absolutely prohibited” churches or other 501(c)3 institutions “from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for elective public office.” Read more

Norwegian Man Now Identifies as a Disabled Woman, Uses Wheelchair “Almost All The Time”.

“It’s not unusual for trans-identifying men to claim profound victimhood and demand their wives to play along. In some cases, these men go a bit further by claiming additional levels of marginalization; for example, self-identifying as Jewish, or claiming to suffer from some sort of bodily disability,” Sundar explains.

“This just seems to me as a way to satisfy their sexual perversion that thrives on being helpless, or being looked at as someone who is further disenfranchised, therefore warranting more attention etc.” Sundar says that the wives of men who launch into a paraphilia-driven lifestyle change are sometimes trapped by circumstance, citing potential financial, parental, or emotional dependencies. Read more

NHS England: ‘Gender-confusion in children may be a phase’.

NHS England noted “scarce and inconclusive evidence” for making decisions which may have “life-long consequences”, amid a rise of referrals to GIDS from 250 in 2011-12 to over 5,000 in 2021-22. Of those referred in 2021-22, only half were for children aged 15 and over, while at least 15 were under four years old. Read more

Almost All Minors Continue with Trans Treatments after Starting Puberty Blockers, Study Finds.

As a study from the Netherlands revealed that the vast majority of minors who took puberty blocking drugs continued taking treatments to advance gender transition, another highly publicized study purporting to show improved mental health outcomes for minors who undergo transition treatments has been “appended.”

Chloe Cole, a young woman who detransitioned out of a male identity and has since become a prominent spokesperson for the detransitioner movement, quickly responded to the study on Twitter: “I thought the argument was that it was just a ‘pause’ so that kids can make the decision once they’re older?” She went on to add: “[Puberty] Blockers are a harmful gateway drug to becoming patient for life before experiencing adulthood.” Read more
