“Diversity

As you will see

Is when you all

Agree with me”

On June 27, 2021, Joe Biden issued his “Executive Order Advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Government.” The extensive document gives firm and far-reaching marching orders to millions of federal employees here and abroad.

“Diversity, Equity, Inclusion” DEI – was spreading far beyond the federal bureaucracy at the time. In fact, on June 27, 2022, Forbes Magazine, an authoritative source for business news, noted that a “tidal wave of pledges of support for greater diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across corporate America and beyond … had erupted since May 25, 2020.”

That date is significant because it marks the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Apparently, that event not only fueled Black Lives Matter (BLM), but also launched the DEI campaign.

BLM, a major instigator of the demonstrations that led to violence nationwide in the summer of 2020, received financial donations from millions of well-intentioned Americans. However, after the organization became deeply embroiled in accusations of corruption and criminality, it quietly disappeared.

But “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” did not disappear. It grew into an epidemic, infecting not only government and business but institutions of every kind. Today, “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” programs, offices, and commissars in the United States number in the millions. (An Internet search for “DEI programs” renders 62 million links).

We note that the “D” in DEI does not stand for “discrimination.” That term has for years meant “discrimination on the basis of race,” and advocates of liberty and justice for all fought it for generations. Finally, after the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education opinion in 1954 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the path to equality of opportunity and merit was open to all Americans.

But that was then. “Equal opportunity” is now apparently passé. In fact, “DEI” now means the opposite: “Equity” – not “Equality.”

“There’s a big difference between equality and equity,” Kamala Harris said on November 1, 2020. “Equity means that ‘we all end up in the same place.’”

Upon hearing that line, Liz Cheney commented that Harris sounded “just like Karl Marx.”

Ms. Cheney’s on to something. Because “Equity” doesn’t seek equal opportunity, it demands equal outcomes. By force, if necessary.

DEI: Coming to an Institution Near You

DEI’s new form of mandatory discrimination will be applied to a much broader catalogue of categories than “race” alone.

When Joe Biden boasts that he has the “most diverse cabinet in history,” he means that he has hired more transsexuals, homosexuals, feminists, racial minorities, and lesbians than ever.

They “look like America,” he says.

Of course, there is a significant difference between judging someone on the way he looks, versus the way he performs his job. And on the latter score, opinions regarding the competence of Biden’s diverse cabinet members vary widely.

Officially, Biden’s Executive Order applies only to the Federal Government. But that includes a host of Federal agencies that, between them, hand out hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars in Federal grants and contracts a year.

And the same Executive Order also applies to Federal grantees – colleges and universities, construction firms, defense contractors, NGOs, anti-poverty programs – the list is endless.

And the rules are clear: No DEI, no federal grants.

But there are millions of entities in the United States that do not receive Federal Funds. Are they, too, subject to DEI?

They are if they are regulated by the Federal Government, whether it funds them or not.

DEI’s Dirty Little Secret: That “I” Stands For “Abortion”

In October 2021, Joe Biden published his “National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality.” And for Biden, “gender” means not only “sexual orientation” but “abortion.”

“Defend the constitutional right to safe and legal abortion in the United States, established in Roe v. Wade, and promote access to sexual and reproductive health and rights both at home and abroad,” Biden’s “strategy” reads – in direct defiance of the Supreme Court’s June 2022 opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

Abortion: include it, or you’re not in compliance with DEI.

Put plainly, DEI threatens not only the right to life but our fundamental First Amendment freedoms of association and religious liberty. The threat facing Catholic colleges and universities like Notre Dame that receive federal funds looms large. They face the challenge of being forced to become ideological “reeducation camps” designed to deprogram any students harboring orthodox Catholic beliefs on family, marital love, sexual morality, and children. After all, many secular universities have succumbed already.

What Comes Next?

Is there no way to stop this pandemic?

Joe Biden has issued some 107 “Executive Orders.” Many of them have been challenged in the Federal Courts. Nonetheless, while they do not constitute legislation under the Constitution, the Biden Administration considers them binding until a Court says otherwise.

There are millions of institutions of every kind that have DEI programs. On the other hand, there are only 94 District Courts, 13 Circuit Courts, and one Supreme Court in the U. S. Federal Judiciary.

Challenge them, and be prepared for a long wait.

That’s because there will be countless cases ahead of you.

Donald Trump has a better idea. Instead of endlessly battling entrenched DEI bureaucrats at every level, just fire them all.

“Day One I will revoke Joe Biden’s executive order installing Marxist diversity, equity, and inclusion czars in every federal agency. I will immediately fire all staffers hired to implement this horrible agenda,” he told conservatives gathered CPAC speech last Saturday.

That’s a much better solution than tying up the nation’s Federal Courts for years with a battle over meaningless Orwellian DoubleSpeak.

The term DEI is intentionally vapid, an empty abstraction that can conjure up ThoughtCrime in the eyes of the woke beholder at a moment’s notice. A decent burial would bring profound relief to millions in the military, in the government, in businesses, in universities – indeed, everywhere that the Thought Police of DEI breed mistrust and fear today.

Well, almost everywhere.

The National Football League, the National Basketball Association, and Major League Baseball have all adopted DEI programs for their organizations. However, none has implemented programs to enforce DEI quotas on the court or the playing field.

Not yet, anyway.
