For many, the first of January offers the chance of a new beginning, an opportunity to reflect and set goals to improve oneself.

The average person might set New Year’s resolutions such as eating less, calling their parents more, or finally kicking that Netflix addiction in favor of cracking open a book.

This year, however, California opted for insanity, becoming a sanctuary state for children seeking transgender “treatments” and surgeries, to the cheers of groomers across the nation.

On Jan. 1, California’s Senate Bill 107 went into effect. Titled “Gender-affirming healthcare,” in true doublespeak fashion, the bill was first signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sept. 30, and it works to harbor minors (with or without their family) from out-of-state authorities if they are seeking hormonal or surgical treatment, for lack of a better phrase.

The bill was first pushed by state Sen. Scott Wiener, who celebrated the legislation,
writing
, “Tonight at midnight, SB 107 goes into effect & California officially becomes a state of refuge for trans kids & their families.”

“As red states pursue 100s of laws criminalizing LGBTQ people — with incitement to violence all too common — CA stands strong as a beacon of hope,” the aptly named Wiener added.

In September, Newsom pushed his laughable post-COVID-19 propaganda that California is a hub of individual freedom,
arguing
that “parents know what’s best for their kids, and they should be able to make decisions around the health of their children without fear,” framing the bill as an example of protecting “parental choice.”

Unfortunately, Wiener and Newsom are only demanding “refuge” and “choice” for those who truly believe that it’s in any way appropriate to provide younger and younger children with irreversible “treatment” in the form of hormones and surgical mutilation.

If you’re a parent who, say, doesn’t think the breasts of your adolescent daughter should be cut off, are you as welcome in California? Of course not.

Because none of this has anything to do with freedom or refuge or safety. Instead, it is the result of an immoral ideological rot spreading throughout the radical Democratic Party, with people such as Scott Wiener at the helm.

After all, this is the same Wiener who fought to relax laws surrounding sex offender registration, to decriminalize those who hide their HIV-positive status from their partners and infect them with the potentially deadly virus, and to place biological males who identify as women in women’s prisons.

Like transgender children, female inmates are among the most vulnerable in our society, and yet their safety is happily sacrificed for the continuation of the radical and (and often irreversible) LGBT agenda, in which deep societal change is the only solution to the undeniable and yet sporadic suffering of a tiny proportion of the population.

Ultimately, the idea that chopping off a boy’s privates or chemically sterilizing a girl is the action of a compassionate culture is a metaphor for the Democratic Party itself.

According to Democrats, everything they do — including the destruction of biological norms — is for our own good. We’re just too bigoted to see it.
